Our
chosen method of travel…
Nolan and Brendan will
cross
Northern South Dakota
, from West to East, in 14 days, covering 429 miles.
Their starting point is Capital,
Montana
and they intend to end their run in Big Stone,
Minnesota
.
While deciding on how
they wanted to achieve their goal of raising money for cancer
research and cancer awareness, Brendan and Nolan both agreed they
wanted a true adventure of a lifetime.
They wanted to hear the lonesome song of an empty road, feel
the power of self-reliance, and commit themselves completely to
challenge that is much larger than either of them.
They both wanted an experience that would show them that
yes…Chemo Is Harder!
They will be crossing
South Dakota
in a self-supported effort, carrying all needed supplies and gear in
high performance 3-wheeled strollers.
They expect their load to weigh 40-60 pounds worth of
essential equipment. In
their high performance strollers they will carry clothing, a tent,
sleeping bags, food and water, water filter, cooking equipment, first
aid kit, electronics (such as cell phone, Global Positioning System,
MP3 player, batteries, solar charger, etc), and more.
Nolan and Brendan are not re-inventing the wheel with this
type of cross country travel, although it is seldom used and one of
the most strenuous and demanding methods of travel.
Nolan and Brendan will not use any type of “sag wagon” or
safety vehicle, and once they hit the road in the morning, they will
be totally committed to achieving there next stop on the Chemo Is
Harder - Cancer Research Run.
Overall, Brendan and Nolan hope to finish this journey with
money and awareness raised for cancer research, huge smiles on their
faces, 429 miles covered on their legs in the last 14 days, and the
idea that no matter what, Chemo IS Harder!
